Internet Usage / Access at Columbia HS
INTERNET USE:
Every student is given the opportunity to have an Internet account free of charge, providing an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is signed by a parent/guardian and student and submitted to the library.
Students are issued a computer account by the Librarians. They are expected to remember their usernames and passwords because they will use them for the entire time they are at CHS. If a student forgets his/her password, they must see a Librarian to reset their password.
The Library computers are filtered in compliance with State, Federal and Board of Education policy.

Acceptable Use Policy
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY:
Students must have an Acceptable Use Policy on file with the district to use the district network. Many resources are web-based or only available via the district network, so all students should have this form on file. Students with missing forms may have their network access terminated until the form is returned.
***If students withdraw from the district, they will have to sign a new form upon re-entry.
Introductory Letter from Superintendent
AUP Document/Policy (multi-page document)
Parent/Student Permission form (single page - this is the form to print & return to school)
File Attachments & Storage
Students cannot download an attachment from their email onto the library computers. Place content in the body of an email. At school, open up WORD, cut and paste the content into a blank document. Use of cloud-based storage (such as DropBox, Box or GoogleDrive) or a flash drive is strongly encouraged.
Students are provided with network storage space on the district servers. This is great to store documents in progress or school projects, however, the drive is not accessible from outside of the district network. Students now have access to a district-issued Google Drive account. Students are encouraged to use this account to share and save documents and projects. This account will NOT BE ACCESSIBLE after graduation, so students need to make arrangements to save or transfer all their files before hand.
